Didn't rate Connell certainly in the first half against gainsborough but due to work is the only game I have seen him in. However due to his reputation and how he has looked at BP from people whos opinion I trust I am excited about this player. I have read from Brentford fans that he can be a bit hot and cold but am hoping for more hot. I like Stephen Watt and hope we can bring him in permanantly. On that basis with 4 first choice centre backs the competition will be immense. I think leary could be the surprise of the season and hope so because i think he has worked hard at BP and deserves some success. I am still a little worried about centre mid and would like 1 more in. i have been a little worried about Cumming but am prepared to wait and see I have decided that when Gobern is not fit then IMO Bore should play on the right. I know he drifts out of games but he is capable of turning a game in a moment and sometimes that is what you need. I have wanted to see all summer a big striker in. i just think it is needed to mix it with the defenders in this league as in league 2. I think you can football your way out of this league but there are going to be games when you need the big bang just to get something. i also think some of the young kids will be massively important later on and hope they all work hard to be fit and raring to go when called upon. Overall Woods has had to bring in a lot of players. There may still be some tweaking to do over the season and as yet we may not have the finished article. A bit of patience may be needed and my prediction for the new season is fourth place.

Trust your judgement but all strikers can go cold if they're shut out of the game. However with his great movement i think he will be ok.. I just hope he can take his chances - if he can top BSP goalscorer not out of the question. wintertonmariner wrote: I am still a little worried about centre mid and would like 1 more in. i have been a little worried about Cumming but am prepared to wait and see Feel the same too. Would like to hear what people who went last night thought of Cummings performance. Over to you PSU ! wintertonmariner wrote: I have decided that when Gobern is not fit then IMO Bore should play on the right. That's what I said we were crying out for last season but did Woods play him there ? wintertonmariner wrote: I have wanted to see all summer a big striker in. i just think it is needed to mix it with the defenders in this league as in league 2. Hey wonder if Kempson fanices being a makeshift striker... wintertonmariner wrote: Overall Woods has had to bring in a lot of players. I can see us storming our home games with the football we're playing but think a lot will depend on how we do away from home - similar to what Connell said in the GET. Clever man !

Cummins was very good last night, he was calm and has a head. He doesn't just kick it and hope for the best he picks out his passes well and he topped it off with a goal so you can't ask for much more

cummins is most definately not one to worry about, really good on the ball, great vision for a pass, even created good angles so he was available for a pass too.
im not keen on a big striker, i think it has the effect of making defenders play way to many long balls, like england do to crouch. if we need a target man peacock and even corner will do the job very well, i just hope that is very much plan B. the other thing about a big striker is that it plays straight into the hands of the defenders at this level, give them the choice between passing and movement or long balls i know which they would prefer to defend against.
we are close to having a really good side.

Robert Eagle was ok, nothing special though. It ttok him a while to settle in and couldn't work with Wood down the left. He was also reluctant to run with the ball and beat people, which I thought was one of the main parts of being a winger...

Talking to people that went I get the impression he's not as good as Radio Hullburnsnide were making out... They said his crossing and corners were good, but yeah, would be nice to see a winger that could actually beat people... Then again, are there that many decent left footers to choose from ? Alan Hutton(?) apparently impressed Woods on trial but wasn't seen since. Ran a poll on the fishy(might do it here actually) asking which trialist people woudl prefer out of Eagle, Samuels and Watt and Eagle came out top - I guess because people are concerned about that left side... It would be nice to have a left footer in there but only one who is any better than Hegarty(no jokes please ! ), who still desrves a chance in that position IMO.

I'd have Samuels, he was very impressive on Friday. The best player I've seen here in a long time, way to good for BSP, he is very composed and tidy player, knows what he's doing which made him stand out ost of all. He read the game very well, both going forward and defensivley, he reminded me of Widdowson but there's a bit more there if you get what I mean, he's got talent.

danno wrote: The best player I've seen here in a long time, way to good for BSP Wow ! I hope Woods doesn't say no - we can't afford to miss diamonds no matter wherever the strength in the squad is... Surely he must be considering it, otherwise why take him on trial ? Samuels, Watt, Eagle(?) and another central midifelder isn't too much to ask of the board is it ?
