He ended up coming over to Louth in Lincolnshire and I just have a feeling he may have come from Louth in Ireland. I'm logging off now it's the Cleethorpes Carnival today. Lots of girls with short skirts on floats.

This is more of a weekend review. I set off by car on Friday morning heading for the capital to make a weekend of it. Parking on Street at Cockfosters and taking the tube into Central London. I had booked a hotel right next to Victoria station as I had done my homework and knew it was 50 minutes by train to Crawley. A quick beer then a trip to Oxford Street, something to eat, more beer then to the Royal Albert Hall for the evenings entertainment. (Not so Good) More beer then back to the 4* hotel and it was nice and I did manage to sleep despite the excitement of the next day. After a massive breakfast took a walk to Buckingham palace and a stroll round Green Park both of us wearing town shirts. it was noticable that people were looking at the badges trying to work out who else apart from Newcasle plays in black and white. Then at last to Victoria Station. Had a chat with a bloke in a Town shirt from london who was going down to the game. There were several other Town fans in the station as well and at one point I did hear the familiar chant of MARINERS. Arriving in Crawley, I had a quick look round the shopping centre, then a twenty minute walk towards the ground. It was hard to imagine a football ground being anywhere near as it seemed so quiet. I couldn't walk past the pub so had a quick pint in the Half Moon, in fact it took longer to get served than drink it. It was a busy pub mainly filled with black and white. Then to the ground. Didn't think much to the large red and white football on the roundabout neither the decoritive walls in the subway. There was plenty of space in the carpark next to the ground for those that had come by car. A steward actually passed the time of day as well. it was a bit of a nuisance having to get a ticket which was a room with several persons in it behind a desk with cash tins, no tills and I wondered if this was Mr Evans idea !! Then into the ground. I was impressed by how clean it was, everything being in a freshly painted red and white. The pitch looked superb as well but later on when it chucked it down it looked a bit sodden. I had chosen to sit rather than stand and the one steward was most helpfull as the stand started to fill up and seats became scarce. There were Crawley fans mixed in with us and this really was a refreshing change. they were very friendly and wanted to talk. One all boy said he remembered coming to Grimsby and watching a goalkeeper called Tweedy play. (That's one for Horny) Time for a pie...... Oh dear only Cornish Pasties and sausage rolls. I had a pastie, far to much pastry, not particularly warm and really not very nice. Cost £2. Coffee was £1 which was good. snack bar staff were pleasant enough. The toilets were clean and tidy as well. Plenty of room, freshly painted, soap and hot air dryers working, no targets to aim for though. I think this is one of the better grounds we will go too, although one side is completely open and most of the fans in there made a hasty retreat when the rain came. Ground 8 TurnStyle Operative 7 Toilets 9 Pie 5 Coffee 8 Snack Bar Staff 8 Pitch 8 Stewards 9 Overall 7 Town fans were brilliant with not a hint of trouble that I saw anyway. It was then back on the train and a night out to celebrate a fantastic away win.

Darlington was an easy ground to get to, straight up the A1 and then the Darlington Arena just sort of appeared from nowhere and impressive it looked. I went for a meal and beer at The Old Farmhouse which was a lovely restaurant on Yarm Road just up from the ground. Not really a football fans pub but very nice. Parking then became a bit of a problem. It's not that I don't want to pay a fiver to park in the club car park it's just that I hate them with a passion because they take hours to get out of. Everywhere else seemed to be residents parking on an event day but I managed to find a space on a new housing estate which wasn't too far away. I had pre booked tickets which saved me £2 a ticket and these were collected from the ground, there was no queue and they were all ready for me. Into the ground caused me a little confusion. I walked past the turnstyle operator towards the turnstyle and wondered where I was going to give my ticket in. I then had to back peddle a bit to hand my ticket in. (Strange). The Stewards seemed fine during the game, there were not many of them but I spoke to one just to check I could sit anywhere I wanted too. The pitch looked superb and the grass had been dancing with the lawn mower as it was a combination of several patterns. The ground was impressive but where was the scoreboard ????? I looked and looked but there just wasn't one. The toilets were up to standard, no complaints there. At half time I sampled the snack bar. Coffee (Kenco) £1.60 Pies £2.60 a bit on the pricey side I thought although I couldn't manage a pie but they looked alright. Enjoyed my trip but it's always good when we take the three points which we thoroughly deserved. Ground 9 TurnStyle Operative 7 Toilets 8 Pie 6 because of the price Coffee 8 Snack Bar Staff 8 Pitch 9 Stewards 9 Overall 8
Coming out the ground was chaos, cars mixed with pedestrians. The main road outside the ground had been shut off giving a free reign for pedestrians. Luckily I managed to find the back way out which got me home just after midnight. I can't make the next away game at Rushden and it is a ground I have not been too, so anyone else for a ground review ??????

This is a really good idea IMO. Very well written. Darlington is a very familiar ground to a lot of Town fans. Are you doing one for Rushden + Diamonds? Perhaps you could show us where Forest Green is?
P.S. In my new spirit of understanding your reply was nicely written too marinermal.
